GSPA Achievement Awards recognize "behind-the-scenes" work of staffs or individuals. Nominations are currently being accepted for the following awards: Administrator of the Year, Adviser of the Year, Community Service, Enterprising, First-year Adviser, Freedom of the Press, Perseverance, Start-up and Turnaround. The deadline for entries is Feb. 15, 2023. There are no entry fees for Achievement Awards.

The 2022-23 Spring General Excellence Competition and Individual Awards contest are now open! Submit your best work from broadcasts, newsmagazines, newspapers and news websites. Each year, GSPA recognizes the top student journalist in the state with the Georgia Champion Journalist Award. The winner receives a cash prize and represents the state in the Journalism Education Association's National Journalist of the Year competition. Free Summer Advisers Workshop planned for June 6-7

Mercer University's Center for Collaborative Journalism and the Georgia Scholastic Press Association will host a High School Journalism Advisers Workshop June 6-7 at the Center for Collaborative Journalism on Mercer's Macon campus. The workshop itself will be free to attend and will include sessions such as introduction to audio, introduction to photo and video, on writing and editing and crafting story ideas.

‘Purpose-Driven Press’: Keysha Lee delivers inspiring keynote address at GSPA Awards

Two-hundred fifty high school journalists and teachers learned about ways they can put purpose at the center of their media programs during the 2022 GSPA Spring Awards ceremony on April 11, 2022, at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education. Keynote speaker Keysha Lee, an award-winning show host and filmmaker, businesswoman and author, delivered the inspiring message. She defined purpose as “a sense that the work you’re doing is deeply needed.”

Register now for the April 11 Spring Workshop and Awards

GSPA and its members from across the state will celebrate the best in scholastic journalism at the 2022 Spring Workshop and Awards. The event will be held at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education on Monday, April 11. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. A workshop will lead the event, 9-11:45 a.m., followed by an awards luncheon at noon, catered by the Georgia Center. Professional dress is suggested. Register here.
