There are a number of state, regional and national opportunities for learning and networking this semester.

Coinciding with the virtual spring awards on April 14, the Georgia Scholastic Press Association will debut “Innovate,” an online database of new micro lessons, on the organization’s website. Access will be free for all GSPA members. Details are forthcoming, but please save the date!

Check out these other opportunities:

  • The Alabama Scholastic Press Association will host Breaking Boundaries on Feb. 12. The virtual convention offers advanced and basic skills tracks for media students in literary magazine, newspaper, yearbook, broadcast, podcast, creative media and multimedia sessions. Registration is open to student media advisers in Georgia. The deadline to register is Feb. 3.

  • The Southern Interscholastic Press Association will offer its online convention, Rise Up, March 4-7. Additionally, virtual content will be available for participants for one year following the convention weekend. In addition to sessions on a wide range of topics, there will be student communities powered by student leaders, pair shares, new awards, and some of SIPA’s most popular activities, including TOP competitions, SIPA’s Got Talent! and Quiz Bowl.

  • The Journalism Education Association will open its spring convention website, What Next?, on March 15. Registrants will have two months to access breakout sessions featuring industry professionals, including at least two keynote speakers. There will also be interactive networking sessions available for students and advisers
