On-the-Spot Photo Contest winners named from 2023 Fall Conference
/Eighteen entrants explored the theme of “Movement” for the On-the-Spot Photography Contest during the 2023 Fall Conference. It was no easy task for the judges, as everyone did an excellent job. Certificates and swag will be mailed to advisers. The winners are as follows:
First Place: Camilla O'Connell, McIntosh High School, The Legend Yearbook, 11th grade
Judge’s comments: “The focus on the subject as people move behind her places an emphasis on her stillness and lack of movement which clearly refers to a moment of calm within a storm of chaos.”
Second Place: Juliana Santander, The King’s Academy, The Crest Yearbook, 12th grade
Judge’s comments: “The picture is wonderfully photographed. As the girls are in movement, you don't lose their expressions of happiness, and the sun peeking over Sanford Stadium provides beautiful lighting.”
Third Place: Nora Bradshaw, Chestatee High School, The Eagle Yearbook, 9th grade
Judge’s comments: “The photo is captured in the middle of the man's movement on the bike as he passes by the Tate bus stop, but your focus is drawn to his face with a look of determination to get to his destination.”
Honorable Mention: Sadie Reddish, The Kings Academy, The Verve News, 10th grade
Judge’s comments: “When looking at the picture, you can relate to the movement of stepping onto a bus or waiting for your turn to get on. You don't get to fully see the face of either woman, but it adds to the mystery of 'Where are they going?'"
