On-the-spot photography and social media contests
/GSPA will offer two on-the-spot contests during the Fall Conference Thursday, Sept. 19. Both will be open to student attendees of any publication type. There are no entry fees for either of these contests.
Photography—get your cameras (or smartphones) ready! We announce the contest topic 24 hours ahead of the conference. Come prepared to make your best photo and submit it by the 2 p.m. deadline. Photos must be made on location during the conference, either at The Classic Center, or in downtown Athens or on campus during the lunch break. Only one photo per student will be accepted, by email, to gspa@uga.edu . It must include a caption to qualify. It must include the student’s full name, school, publication and year in school.
Social media—share your experience on social during the conference! On Twitter and Instagram, tag @gspauga and use the hashtag #GSPA19. Judges will consider the top media posts only. Media can be a designed meme (must be appropriate), video clip, photo, photo gallery, created GIF, etc. Be creative, but tasteful! Posts and content must be original. Posts can be made from a publication’s account or a personal account. Posts after 2 p.m. will not be considered by the judges for the contest.
The top three winners will be selected from each contest, plus honorable mentions. Winners will be announced on GSPA’s social media channels and on the GSPA website. They will receive premium swag and bragging rights.
