Save the date! The Fall Conference is Sept. 19

Mark your calendars for the 2019 GSPA Fall Conference, which will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, at The Classic Center in downtown Athens, Georgia.

The new venue will better accommodate the growth in attendance and provide the space for a keynote speaker and presentation of summer awards. Furthermore, there will be a scheduled lunch break, which will give attendees the opportunity to explore some of the best local eateries in Athens.

News editors will be given the opportunity to meet with an expert to get a critique of their publications. The critiques will last 20 minutes each and will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis. This fall, advisers will sign up in advance for critiques. They will submit a copy of their publication or a link in advance along with an information sheet to serve as a guide for the professional on what the staff hopes to discuss during the critique session.

Additionally, a pre-conference contest will be offered in lieu of the First Edition contest. Details will be announced later in the summer. A social media contest is planned for the day of the conference.

A pre-conference is tentatively planned for Wednesday, Sept. 18 at the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, 7-10 p.m. Longer workshops will be available on that evening with advance registration.

Updates will be added to the Fall Conference webpage as they become available.

We hope you’ll plan to join us for this exciting networking and skill building opportunity!
