Advisers who are GSPA members attend for free. The price includes a served, plated meal during the awards.
A workshop will lead the event, 9-11:50 a.m., which will offer sessions on the following topics: social Media, First Amendment, staff to leadership, sports journalism, health and medical reporting at the high school level, transitioning from high school to college, tips from judges, podcasting, copyediting, an advisers’ roundtable, and a TEDxUGA activity. A banquet-style awards luncheon follows at noon, catered by The Georgia Center. Professional dress is suggested.
We will recognize recipients of awards administered throughout the year, including the Summer Yearbook and Literary Magazine contest winners, Georgia Champion & Jr. Champion Journalists, First Amendment Essay finalists, Achievement Award winners and Spring Broadcast, Newspaper, Newsmagazine and News Website contest winners will be announced. Chief Meteorologist Dominic Brown from WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina, will give an inspiration keynote address. We hope you’ll join us for this special day honoring all of your hard work!
